Schedule Changes
Students should involve parents, teachers, and guidance counselors to insure their course selections are appropriate to their needs and interests.
In general, schedule changes are discouraged after school has begun. However, special circumstances may arise.
Track Changes: Students may request track changes from one ability level to another at any time during the first or third quarters. Parent permission and the permission of the respective teachers are required before a track change can be made.
Dropping a Course for a Study Hall: Students may request to drop a course and add a study hall at any time during the first five weeks of a semester without penalty, providing a study hall is not already in their schedule. If a student does have a study hall and still wishes to drop a course, a grade of “F” and no credit for the course will be reported and calculated for the student’s semester report card. Parent permission is required to drop a course and add a study hall. If a student drops a class after five weeks into the semester, a grade of “F” will be reported.
Section Changes: If a student wishes to make a section change, at least one of the following criteria must be met:
-
the student has taken and failed a course with the assigned teacher.
-
the student has had a documented conflict with the assigned teacher; or
-
the student has been enrolled into the wrong course for the intended subject area.

ACT
The ACT (American College Test) is required for admission to many colleges and institutions including all state supported universities and some public community colleges in Illinois. Illinois high school students who want to compete for Illinois State Scholar Awards must take this test in their junior year. The ACT assessment format is comprised of four tests: English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science Reasoning. It will provide four test scores and a composite score plus two sub-scores in English and Reading and three sub-scores in Mathematics. For additional information, visit ACT Website linked below.
2025 ACT & PREACT TEST DATE: March 25, 2025 (9TH, 10TH, 11TH GRADES)
TEST MAKEUP DATES: 9TH GRADE - April 1, 2025, 10th GRADE - April 2, 2025, 11th GRADE - April 3, 2025

Advanced Placement Test
These tests are given in several subject areas. In previous years tests in Advanced Placement English, Calculus, Advanced Chemistry, Honors Programming, and others have been given. Students who score well may be able to obtain college credit and/or proficiency out of certain courses. Check the EHS web site for more information as the year progresses.

ASVAB Testing
The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) test is used by the military to help determine your abilities in both academic and vocational areas and must be taken if you wish to enter the armed services.
ASVAB Testing is not just for students interested in joining the military!!
The ASVAB Career Exploration Program includes a validated aptitude test and interest assessment (CEP). The results are used to guide career exploration using our career planning tools.
Students who want to take this test must sign up in the Guidance Office.
Next test date: FRIDAY, APRIL 11TH, 7:30 A.M.

PSAT/NMSQT
The PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test)/NMSQT (National merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) is required for all students who wish to be considered for a National Merit Scholarship. A very high test score is required to become a semifinalist. This is also the test African-American students must take to compete for scholarships from the National Achievement Program for Outstanding African American Students. The PSAT/NMSQT is a multiple-choice test that measures verbal and mathematical reasoning ability important for success in college. It is recommended that this test be taken in the junior year. This test is not required for college admission.
Fall Test Dates: Tuesday, October 22nd and Wednesday, October 23rd.
Registration is done on-line. An email with registration and payment instructions was sent to parents/guardians on September 9, 2024. Questions can be directed to Mrs. Cierra Gater at 618-656-7100 ext. 20135.

SAT
The SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) is given on several Saturday test dates throughout the year. The SAT is required for admission to certain colleges and universities. Most institutions will accept or prefer scores from junior year testing (spring and summer before senior year). A few schools require it to be taken in the senior year, no later than December. Some institutions requiring the SAT also require one or more achievement tests for admissions. Students should refer to each college’s catalog for specific information about which tests are recommended.
To register to take the SAT test and see your scores: www.collegeboard.org, EHS code 141735.
